Luke's birthday party with his friends was this past weekend. He seemed to have a lot of fun, eating and opening presents that is! He played a lot but asked to eat cake numerous times. He is such a funny little boy. Being the class clown he is, he made sure that even after the birthday singing was over that all eyes were still on him. At one point he was standing in his chair eating his cake with TWO forks at the same time. The kids sitting at the table with him thought that was the funniest thing ever. What did that make him do????? Continue on of course.... why would a comedian stop when the crowd is roaring! It was like his 1st birthday all over again because he was so messy. Daddy cleaned him up and off he ran to open the presents apparently calling his name. If I had to guess his love language right now, I would definately say GIFTS (cake comes in a close 2nd). This boy LOVES presents. Although what child would not want to open new presents! The rest of the day was spent playing with all of his new toys. His big brother definately appreciated the fact that he got lots of toys for his birthday too.
Thanks to everyone who came to see our sweet boy celebrate! It is definately bitter sweet as we celebrate all these birthdays. We love that our kids are getting bigger. As they grow, they play well together (most of the time), they are more independent, and they have so much fun. However, we realize that this is the "last time" for many things. This is the last "two year old" birthday we will ever celebrate with our kids. Luke is the last one in diapers. He is the last one in the baby crib. We know that the future is full of new events, experiences, and memories. We are having a great time. When we were expecting our first, everyone always told us that "it goes by so fast". We realized that time flies, but you don't realize how fast until you actually have your children. We have realized more and more over the past year that these sweet little ones are just a gift from the Lord. I know that everyone says that, but we see how true it is daily. It is so much fun to watch them grow and change all the time. They are hilarious too. I could fill this whole blog with just funny things that come out of their mouths! When you have three little ones ages four and under, they just feed on each other. AND YES if you re-read that sentence it does say that they are four and under. We just have one month until our sweet baby girl turns 5.

sounds like a great birthday party! and i know what you mean by all the "last ofs" sometimes its just so sad.
You guys are so fun! You have such kind, sweet kiddos. I know what you mean about the last-ofs also. Just do what I did, yank that boy out of the baby bed before you have a chance to think about it, then bawl your head off until 2AM when he is FINE with it! HA! I am also very nervous about the whole kindergarten thing...and I have another year to freak out about it! I know you have to be torn with Hanna going this fall! At least we have the summer for them to be little ones...to play past dark, dig in the dirt, eat popsicles till their faces are stained red and etc.
Time just keeps marching on.
One of my favorite sayings is, "With children the days are long, but the years are short"...It is SO true!
