Not Me! Monday

Here is another attempt at Not Me! Monday. Take a look at MckMama's blog if you want to join. She has some funny life events right now!

Wow it has been a crazy week, a crazy one that has flown by in the blink of an eye. I surely did not find myself forgetting things that one might see as important. I know that I did not forget the little things either. For example, I did not forget that the boys had crazy sock day last week at school. Of course, I did not send them to school with plain white socks on crazy sock day because that might make them feel left out.
Last week was H's soccer party. I ordered the cake from Sam's the day prior. I mentioned that the soccer team's colors were mint green and black. The bakery lady asked how much black icing we wanted. I said that we wanted very little black icing if any. Apparently I did not make myself as clear as I thought. I go the next day and the cake looks great, the cupcakes are dark green and pure black. Ever see 8 soccer girls and their siblings eat BLACK icing? I did not tell my hubby that my children were not allowed a black frosting cupcake. Then I did not look up and see my youngest son grab a BLACK frosting cupcake and bite into it before I could intervene. I did not then see him transform into his class clown multiple personality and start smearing the BLACK frosting all over his face. I did not ask my hubby to clean him after he was finished.
The following day H wakes up with a fever and I realize that she cannot go to school. I did not immediately call my Dr. at 8am because it was Friday and I knew it would not fit our weekend to have a sick child. I did not then call my neighbor and ask her to have pity on me and to take my boys while I take H to the Dr. I forgot to mention that on Friday's we have another 18 month old little boy who spends some time with us. So, off to the Dr. with H and the little friend. After I did not help hold H's head for a strep test, I did not request that we get a flu shot while we are already there. Strep test came back negative so in my mind I was not thinking "great, that was a waste of my co-pay". I did not have to hold H's arms while trying to make her thigh accessible and the nurse most definitely did not have to hold her legs down. All the while H is not screaming at the top of her little 34lb 5 year old body, "no mommy I don't want a shot please, please, please." And, if all this were true, I would not have then bought H the biggest ice cream her little body could eat.
I go to pick up the boys from my neighbor and she did not tell me that my youngest son had 3 poops while I was gone in one hour. Oh, and the last two were really soft, one would not consider it diarrhea though. And the most important thing, she did not tell me that his bottom was stained a different color. Why would it be because he of course did not have an accident in his pants, right? No, not my child. When we get home I did not take a picture of the evidence for sure because that would not be the funniest thing ever.
That night the kids were signed up for childcare for date night. We most definitely did not try to devise a plan where H could go to maybe a grandparent and the boys could go to childcare because they were fine. We would not even consider dropping off our sick little girl, nope not us. If, if all this were true, we would have come to our senses and realize how selfish that is. We then did not have to just settle for Chili's take out after the kids went to bed.
Saturday I did not go pick up my good friend Danica to get a pedicure because she is totally not going to have a baby on Tuesday, even though she may look like it. Oh, and I did not take advantage of the fact that we were already getting pampered and therefore get my eyebrows waxed because this day was about Danica not me! We did not take advantage of the hubby's watching the kids and go eat lunch, go to Target and Hobby Lobby.
Wow, I definitely do not have more to say but know that you are probably, actually most definitely not ready to quite reading. Hope that you have not had a week like my crazy one. There is always next week.

Just in case you thought I was not telling the truth about the BLACK icing........

Not Me! Monday

I did not miss NOT ME! Monday because I would not procrastinate like that! I fully know that it is done on Mondays only and I would never forget stuff like that!

Out of the mouth of babes!

We have not talked too much politics around our house during this election year, for one because we always have listening ears and well you know how that goes. We realized that we had not talked enough when H had a mock election at school and did not know really who was running or who to vote for. We asked her who she voted for and she said that she voted for Obama because he had a better smile than the "other guy". She then proceeded to tell us about a fight that she got into with her good little friend about the candidates. She said that her friend's dad told her friend that Obama will take all of your money. We laughed because we could just envision the family discussion that preceded this thought in this little girls mind. H argued with her friend, not because she knew the candidates position on taxes etc, I think just for the sake of arguing.
Yesterday we came across Obama's picture on tv. H questioned who won because she was fast asleep when the election was over the night before. I took the opportunity to explain how some people were happy with the decision and some are not because it was not what they voted for, but at least they were allowed to vote. H then said in a serious voice, "mom, is he coming to our house soon?" I said "Who?" She looked at me and said, "Obama. Is he coming to our house to take our money soon?" It is amazing to me how a 5 year old mind works. So simple and honest!

Not Me! Monday

Here is another shot at Not Me! Mondays. Have a great week!

  1. Friday was 50's day at H's school, of course poodle skirts and rolled up jeans were the attire. I did not send my sweet daughter in rolled up blue jeans and a white shirt because I did not want to find/make a poodle skirt. Did I mention that she was one of about 4 girls in the whole grade who did not have one? We will know next year that they take 50's day seriously.

  2. One day last week I did not lay my head down on the kitchen table after we picked up H from school and doze off for a minute while my kids were playing around me, well in the same house counts as around me right? Does it count that I had a horrible migraine and nothing else would help?

  3. On the same day, I did not drive to two different Subway Sandwich places just because the first one did not have a drive thru and I was not about to get out of my car with 3 kids, a migraine, and a husband who was not going to be home for dinner.

  4. On Friday night, I was not mopping my house at 3am because we were having company Saturday. No, that would be crazy considering it was my brother-in-law and his buddy....because we all know that they just wanted a place to lay their heads not eat off my floor!
  5. On Saturday night we were invited to watch the BIGGEST game of the season....Texas Tech vs. UT. We did not call grandma to watch the kids because it would be easier to watch the game without them even though the other families would have their children around. No, ....we would not take any opportunity to have a child-free night.
  6. That same night, we did not get a phone call around 2-3am saying that H was not feeling well and was crying to come home. Sure enough, a little while after H comes home, the vomiting starts. I did not just pat H on the back while my sweet hubby is running around exchanging towels that have been thrown up on etc. Have I mentioned that I CANNOT stand throw up. All day Sunday I did not hope that no one else would catch the stomach bug after that day because my hubby who takes care of throw up would be back at work on Monday. And I most certainly did not make a face that no one could see while holding my sweet girl while she was sick. Have I mentioned that I HATE throwing up or I HATE when any one else throws up?
  7. I most certainly was not late posting the Not Me Mondays. Really, I did not change the time and date stamp because I was a little late. And, even if I did change the time, no one is awake reading blogs to know the difference right?

Weekend Full of Toys!

A few weekends ago we went on a little family getaway with some of our good friends. Their parents have a beautiful home right in the heart of the mountains of New Mexico. It was a chilly rainy weekend, but that did not stop our kids from wanting to play on all the toys that were there. Our boys were in heaven and did not want to come inside. They had a tractor, riding lawn mower (the John Deere on it was important to our middle one), golf cart for adults, golf cart for the kids, and a four wheeler. It was so much fun and a much needed break from this crazy fall. We look forward to going back, assuming that we are invited again :) Really, we just enjoyed playing with the kids with no phones, limited television, and no honey do lists! We also enjoyed the time we got to spend with the McAdens when the kids went to bed. There is not much like uninterupted time with some of your bestest friends! It has been several weeks now since we have been there and our boys are still talking about all the things they did there. There was only one thing that my kids talked about doing that did not happen.....a BEAR HUNT! There is always next time! Thanks for inviting us McAdens!!!!!!!
